Wreaths Across America

National Wreaths Across America Day

Civil Air Patrol has an important partnership with Wreaths Across America (WAA). Wreaths Across America is a very moving way to honor those who have served, and it is also a very effective unit-level fundraising activity. Please visit the Wreaths Across America website for more information. Every year, our squadron supports the mission of WAA on the third Saturday of December, in the town of Waxhaw, to present the colors and join thousands of other attendees all around the country in laying wreaths at cemeteries, to include Arlington National Cemetery.

Wreaths Across America honors those whose commitment to preserving our freedoms far surpassed their own desire to enjoy it.  Wreaths are placed by gravestones on this day acknowledging the ultimate sacrifice in which each soldier has made. The Town of Waxhaw participates each year by conducting a ceremony and placing wreaths on the gravestones of the 177 veterans in the Southside Cemetery.
